Mortal Shell II Bosses
Mortal Shell II has eleven story boss fights when the tutorial Tar Golem is included. After that opening encounter, a practical route begins with Magdalena, Lost Child, and Nameless Captive in Fainweald, continues through Droeg, Hexapod, and Sir Isaac in Mammon, then finishes with Malborn Offspring, Monolith, Orrem, and Zmey. Exploration is flexible, so treat the regional list as a safe progression plan rather than a claim that every early fight is hard-locked.
Major boss order at a glance
PowerPyx numbers eleven main progression bosses: Tar Golem; Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods; Lost Child; Nameless Captive; Droeg, the Conquerer; Hexapod; Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince; Malborn Offspring; Monolith; Orrem, the Reclaimed; and Zmey, the Unbidden. Tar Golem is the tutorial encounter, the next six are regional targets, and the last four form the endgame sequence.
If a checklist says ten bosses, it is usually counting only the fights after the tutorial. This page uses the complete eleven-fight story progression while keeping Tar Golem visibly separate from the ten later encounters. That definition prevents the common 10-versus-11 count difference from looking like a missing fight.
Prepare before a Corrupted Gate
Use a Shell and main weapon whose basic rhythm you already understand. Mortal Shell II removes the conventional stamina restriction described on the official Steam page, but that does not make attacks free of risk: recovery, positioning, posture pressure, and enemy retaliation still decide whether a sequence is safe. Enter with a repeatable defensive plan instead of trying a newly found moveset during the boss.
Check weapon upgrades, sidearm ammunition or resource rules, healing, and the ability tied to your current Shell. Spend vulnerable resources if a failed attempt would make the runback costly. If a guide recommends a particular weapon, interpret it as one workable answer, not proof that every other build is invalid.
Fainweald progression
The tutorial Tar Golem is slow, but the fight cannot be stalled forever. PowerPyx recommends chipping away while watching for its unblockable jumping ground slam, then parrying normal attacks to create a Riposte opening. Treat this as the first fight in the eleven-boss progression even though later checklists sometimes omit it.
Magdalena is safest from behind because the spiked wheelchair makes frontal pressure dangerous. PowerPyx recommends using Burn resistance and leaving the wasp-swarm area immediately after half health; the later tracking projectile is easier to avoid with space. Do not stand in lingering fire while trying to extend a punish.
Lost Child telegraphs its large bites, arm swipes, leap, and rear projectile stream. Dodge sideways until the stream ends, and use Harden or a clean dodge against the slower arm windup. Nameless Captive is a parry-focused fight: its second phase includes a seven-hit sequence tied to the Peter's Perfect Parry achievement, so avoid filling the stun meter before attempting that condition.
Mammon progression
The next three numbered fights are Droeg, Hexapod, and Sir Isaac. Droeg deals Frost damage and turns slowly; parry or Harden the broad club attacks, move behind the boss during the three overhead swings, and use the arena's stone slab or tree as cover from the second-phase tracking projectiles. Keep distance from the cover if Droeg is close enough for the projectile splash to reach around it.
Hexapod attacks mainly from the front with its appendages. PowerPyx recommends Harden because several tells are difficult to read, while a ranged Triach Repeater approach can target the face when the appendages move aside. In the second phase, move laterally or use a large skeleton as cover when the homing shots appear.
Sir Isaac's shield phase favors deliberate parries, but the second phase becomes faster and uses double-hit sword attacks that can make parry timing unreliable. Harden provides a safer buffer against those strings. Do not remain directly in front of the shield during the first phase because the close shield bash is fast.
Unfound Path endgame
Malborn Offspring, Monolith, Orrem, and Zmey make up the final four numbered fights in the researched progression. Malborn has two full health bars and uses fast multi-hit sword strings and dangerous grabs. A strong parry player can continue using that plan, while PowerPyx identifies Sester Genessa's upgraded Faithful Doubles as a safer alternative for creating distractions and stuns.
Monolith is damaged at the central hanging target. Back away from repeated advancing slams, dodge through the sweeping laser rather than racing against it, and move in the same direction as the rotating arena-wide lasers during the final phase. When the boss spreads flat and spins around the arena, create distance and prepare to dodge its landing.
Orrem begins with a Tar Golem-like moveset before changing into a four-legged form with a centipede emerging from its back. Stay close enough to avoid encouraging its abrupt forward charge, dodge beneath alternating arm slams, and move laterally through the projectile sequence. Bloodcurse resistance is useful in the opening form.
Zmey is a long final fight built around Stasis and Cosmic damage. PowerPyx recommends Seedbearer's Scripture for Cosmic resistance before phase two, where four opening waves can rapidly apply Cosmic Disease. Stay alert for the tail grab, move out from the unblockable ground slam, and preserve enough healing for the second phase rather than racing the first.
Learn attacks without wasting attempts
Use the first part of a new fight to identify three things: the boss's approach tool, the end of its common combo, and the attack that punishes healing or distance. Do not attempt to memorize every animation at once. Once those three anchors are reliable, add one new punish window per attempt.
When you die, describe the cause precisely. “Too hard” is not actionable, while “healed at long range and triggered the gap closer” suggests a clear change. Keep the parts of the strategy that worked and adjust only the decision connected to the failure.
Harden, posture, and critical windows
The official description emphasizes shattering enemy posture and striking critically. Build pressure when the boss is committed, but preserve enough control to respond to the next tell. A posture break is most valuable when you are positioned to convert it, not when the final risky swing leaves you unable to capitalize.
Harden is a timing tool rather than permission to ignore the moveset. Test it against a predictable attack first, observe where you end up after contact, and decide whether the resulting position is safe. The strongest pattern is the one you can reproduce, especially during a long second phase.
Completion checklist

- Fainweald targets completed: Magdalena, Lost Child, and Nameless Captive.
- Mammon sequence completed: Droeg, Hexapod, and Sir Isaac.
- Endgame sequence completed: Malborn Offspring, Monolith, Orrem, and Zmey.
- Rewards checked against the current weapon and Shell.
- Achievement conditions reviewed before cleanup.
