Mortal Shell II Weapons
Mortal Shell II has eight primary weapons and eight sidearms in the researched release-build guides. The Iconoclast and Naylshotte are prologue equipment; the remaining gear is collected through the world, dungeons, minibosses, and puzzle routes. Choose what to upgrade by moveset and build fit, not by an unsupported universal ranking.
Primary weapons
The eight primary weapons in the collected list are The Iconoclast, Axe and Dagger, Veteran’s Battle Axe, Great Martyr’s Blade, Obsidian Hammer, Black Needle, Axatana, and Clockwork Scythe. Each supports a distinct attack rhythm, reach, or ability pattern.
Weapons can be used across Shells, so finding a weapon does not lock it to one body. Shell passives and abilities can still make a pairing more effective or comfortable. Test the basic attacks before committing scarce upgrade resources.
Sidearms
The eight sidearms are Naylshotte, Forgotten Crossbow, Troubadour’s Lute, Salvaged Trebuchaxe, Triarch Repeater, Ballistazooka, Cursed Child, and Caged Hystrix. They expand combat beyond a primary melee moveset and can provide ranged or specialized effects.
Some source pages inconsistently place Caged Hystrix or Salvaged Trebuchaxe in weapon sections. The more detailed release location sources separate eight primary weapons and eight sidearms, so this database follows that structure while preserving the source discrepancy.
Starting gear
The Iconoclast and Naylshotte arrive through the prologue route. That means a full collection checklist includes them even though they are not normal world pickups. Do not waste time searching the release map for a second pickup unless a later patch or New Game+ source explicitly documents one.
The starting pair is also your baseline for testing controls, Harden timing, Resolve use, and how a primary weapon combines with a sidearm. Learning this loop is more valuable than rushing to an item solely because a video calls it best.
Fainweald collection routes
Release guides place several early pickups in named routes: Veteran’s Battle Axe at the end of the King’s Crypt, Great Martyr’s Blade at Martyr’s Prison, and Axe and Dagger behind the Chapel Key and Shrine of Trials sequence. Sidearms in the region include the Forgotten Crossbow, Troubadour’s Lute, and Salvaged Trebuchaxe.
Route requirements matter more than rough map proximity. A key, dungeon finish, boss, or hidden interaction can separate the visible destination from the actual reward. Open the related item or dungeon guide before travelling.
Mammon collection routes
The later source checklist connects Obsidian Hammer, Black Needle, Axatana, and Clockwork Scythe with routes in Mammon. The Triarch Repeater, Ballistazooka, Cursed Child, and Caged Hystrix complete the sidearm set in the same broad region.
Names and exact route wording differ across authors, so individual database pages should carry the precise source used. This hub gives collection structure, not fabricated coordinates.
Weapon abilities and Resolve
The Fextralife snapshot explains that weapon abilities consume Resolve and give each weapon distinct tactical effects. Build Resolve through combat, then spend it when the ability solves a specific pressure point such as reach, area control, or burst damage.
An ability’s usefulness depends on the encounter and Shell kit. A strong showcase clip does not prove that the same weapon is optimal for every player. Consider defense style, status synergy, and resource generation.
Upgrade planning
Upgrade systems make early investment meaningful. Before spending heavily, collect or preview alternatives where practical and compare their full basic movesets. Keep enough resources to recover from a choice that feels wrong rather than copying an endgame recommendation immediately.
Balance patches can change damage, costs, and relative value. This page avoids hard-coded damage rankings. Current patch notes and the in-game item screen should control numerical decisions.
Collection checklist
Track primary weapons and sidearms separately. Mark the two prologue items first, then group remaining targets by region and prerequisite. Finish a dungeon when the sourced reward is at its end, and note which routes need keys so you can combine trips.
For Axe and Dagger, start with the Mushroom Village Chapel Key guide and continue into the Shrine of Trials. For Proxima-focused ranged play, open the Triarch Repeater page. Achievement hunters should cross-check the dedicated trophy list because naming and category presentation differ by platform source.
How to evaluate a new pickup
Test light and heavy strings, reach, recovery, movement, and the weapon ability in a controlled area. Then pair it with the sidearm and Shell you actually use. A weapon that looks slow in isolation may fit a control-heavy ability loop, while a fast option may demand more risk than its video montage shows.
Compare the unupgraded feel before spending. Damage values alone do not show whether you can land the attack safely or generate Resolve consistently. Comfort and reliability are legitimate build criteria.
Avoiding route confusion
Several locations are named differently across translations, and older beta videos may show moved pickups. Prefer a release-build source that names the prerequisite, dungeon, and final interaction. Use landmarks from the same source rather than combining the first half of one route with the final room of another.
The Shrine of Trials route is the clearest example: Mushroom Village leads to the Chapel Key, the key opens the Shrine, and completing the puzzle chain yields Axe and Dagger. The Lonely Resident’s door and Cage Key are unrelated.
Database update policy
The database can safely retain weapon names, category, and sourced acquisition chain. Damage, upgrade cost, balance rank, and “best” labels require a patch-aware check. When sources disagree on category, the release game’s inventory and achievement interface should decide.
Each future detail page should show when its route was checked and link back to this collection hub. A complete-looking table with guessed cells is not acceptable; unknown fields stay omitted or marked pending until verified.
