Mortal Shell II Patch Notes

The latest official Mortal Shell II patch notes are for the September 24, 2026 hotfix. It fixes progression blockers, trophy problems, Egon's Stone behavior, several boss and Shell issues, and adds visible Adaptive Difficulty tiers plus Low Latency Mode. One important exception remains: the developer edited the notice to say that Bring My Ova Back to Me is not fixed in this patch and is planned for the next update.

September 24 hotfix: what matters first

Players blocked by Egon's Stone should check this build before repeating a dungeon. The hotfix addresses dungeons failing to load after using the stone and stops Egon's Stone from removing Gloom that was dropped in the open world. It also fixes a gamepad soft lock that could occur when cancelling Mether's Severance and restores interaction with Stray Genessa after that item was used.

The update lists a fix for the Seeking the Past trophy or achievement. The original announcement also named Bring My Ova Back to Me, but the developer added a correction at the end: that second achievement is still unresolved and its fix is intended for the next update. Treat the edit as the current authority rather than assuming both trophies were repaired.

Several world and encounter blockers are included. Elevator-lift collision received additional protection, Orrem the Reclaimed should no longer die instantly, and ordinary enemies should no longer become aggressive during miniboss fights. These are fixes to the listed failure cases, not a promise that every save or unrelated progression problem has been repaired.

Player, weapon, and Shell fixes

The September 24 hotfix corrects Clockwork Scythe elemental effects, restores Harbinger shades and masks in the level-up tab, and fixes the Slayer Seal becoming unresponsive. It also stops sheep-form attacks from continuing after the player returns to a Shell and corrects a small Lazlo armor-clipping problem.

Genessa receives two targeted fixes in addition to the Mether's Severance interaction. Stray Genessa should be interactable again after the respec item is used, and Faithful Doubles should behave correctly when paired with Lost Clotstone. These points are narrow bug fixes; they do not establish a new universal Genessa build or ranking.

If an affected behavior persists, confirm that the platform has downloaded the September 24 update and fully restart the game. Then reproduce the exact listed problem once before changing several settings or items. A current save can still contain state created by an older build, so preserve the save before experimenting with a workaround.

Boss changes in the latest hotfix

The final boss's fire-ring attacks were adjusted. The Warden received timing, trigger-box, positioning, and general behavior improvements, including a fix intended to stop it jumping through walls. The Hexapod arena was also changed so the player should no longer be pushed outside it.

These notes do not provide new damage or health values. Avoid turning an attack adjustment into a numerical nerf claim unless a later official source publishes the numbers. For a boss strategy, use the updated behavior as a checkpoint and keep the route, equipment, and difficulty state separate from the patch summary.

Adaptive Difficulty and performance additions

The hotfix adds interface support for Adaptive Difficulty tiers. It also improves the Adaptive Difficulty indicator and makes the Night Mode icon easier to see. This changes visibility, not the basic opt-in rule introduced by the September 5 update.

For PC players, the new Low Latency Mode option supports NVIDIA Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag 2 according to the official notice. The patch also fixes a missing VSync tooltip while Frame Generation is enabled, optimizes shadows in the hub, and includes texture and general optimization work. Hardware, driver, and platform differences still matter, so the presence of the option is not a guaranteed frame-rate result.

September 14 hotfix

The previous official hotfix focused on Shells, stones, bosses, NPCs, world collision, and stability. It fixed Proxima becoming stuck in the Biosampler animation and closed Lazlo's Temperament infinite glitch. Mether's Severance became usable at the Genessa trainer, while Colossus Stone, Justiciar Stone, Gloombound Stone, Egon's Stone, Grisha Remnant, and Summon Stone received targeted corrections.

Boss and enemy fixes included Hexapod's post-death dive, freeze-state problems, leaving the Twin Sester fight after the encounter began, and a Starved Harridan failure state. The same update addressed Zhirelle interaction in New Game+, repeated Mutton spawns, NPC damage from sidearms, Genessa dialogue and training, Citadel Annex traversal, Ashen Cathedral death volumes, a post-Lazlo dungeon trap, and several collision problems.

September 5 Adaptive Difficulty update

The September 5 update introduced optional experimental Adaptive Difficulty. It is disabled by default and can be controlled under the game's settings. When enabled, continued success can raise enemy damage, health, and break resistance, while repeated difficulty can lower those values and apply protection against a full-health one-hit kill.

Night Mode follows a special boundary: the official notes say it can become harder but will not be made easier by Adaptive Difficulty. The September 24 interface work makes the tiers and night indicator clearer, but it does not remove that rule. Players comparing encounters should record whether Adaptive Difficulty and Night Mode are active before attributing a change to a weapon or boss patch.

The September 5 update also fixed Fragile Tarstones failing to grant Tarcores, stopped Gloombound Stone durability loss when recovering Gloom from the player's corpse, improved Gloom recovery logic, and changed several Shell, summon, enemy, interface, lighting, and stability behaviors. The dedicated Tarstones and Night Mode pages explain those systems without duplicating the entire changelog.

Week 1 update: the major system baseline

The August 29 Week 1 update is the largest post-launch system change in this timeline. It introduced Fragile Tarstones, Glimpse Stone, Egon's Stone, and Mether's Severance. It also made Glimpses and Tarcores renewable, expanded merchant access, changed dungeon and exploration rewards, added daytime Beacons, and revised several weapons, Shells, bosses, ripostes, saves, performance settings, and controller behaviors.

That update is the baseline for current guides about Tarstones, Shell respecs, resource planning, Axatana, bosses, and exploration. Launch-day videos may still show useful geography, but their reward totals, item behavior, boss timing, or performance settings can be outdated. Use the official chronology before copying an older build-specific route.

How to verify that a fix is installed

First, let the platform finish the update and restart the game rather than relying only on a suspended session. Reproduce the named issue under the same conditions described in the notes. If it remains, record the platform, installed version shown by the platform, save state, location, equipment, and exact steps.

Separate unresolved issues from fixes that changed only one trigger. For example, an achievement fix does not automatically grant every condition retroactively, and a dungeon-loading fix tied to Egon's Stone does not cover every loading failure. The September 24 notice explicitly preserves one known exception, Bring My Ova Back to Me, so repeatedly reinstalling solely for that item is not supported by the current official note.

Current update checklist

  1. Install and restart after the September 24 hotfix.
  2. Recheck Egon's Stone, Mether's Severance, affected achievements, and listed boss problems only under their documented conditions.
  3. Do not mark Bring My Ova Back to Me fixed; the official edit says its correction is planned for the next update.
  4. Confirm whether Adaptive Difficulty and Night Mode are enabled before comparing enemy behavior.
  5. Use the September 14, September 5, and Week 1 notes when an older guide describes different item or system behavior.
