Mortal Shell II Fast Travel

Mortal Shell II fast travel has two stages. After reaching Marrow Keep, the rooftop launchpad can send you to Beacons you have already activated; later, siphoning enough Ova at the Keep unlocks Mether's Breath, which adds direct travel from a Beacon. If a destination is missing, interact with that Beacon in the world first, because seeing a marker is not the same as tagging the travel point.

The two fast travel methods

The first method is the Marrow Keep launchpad. Finish the prologue, reach the Keep, pass the Gloom Siphon, and take the elevator to the upper travel mechanism. Its destination list contains activated Beacons, and choosing one starts the longer launch sequence from the hub.

The second method is Mether's Breath. It appears after enough Ova have been siphoned at Marrow Keep and can then be selected from a Beacon menu. This removes the need to return to the rooftop launchpad before each trip and is the practical system for repeated routes.

These methods do not reveal unexplored locations. They reduce travel time between places you have already reached and tagged. Continue opening shortcuts and learning the terrain, because the final approach to an item, dungeon, or NPC still happens on foot.

Unlock the Marrow Keep launchpad

Complete the prologue and follow the story into Marrow Keep. The launchpad is not a field item and does not require a hidden key; it is part of the hub's travel structure. Current guides place the route beyond the Gloom Siphon and up the elevator to the top of the Keep.

At the mechanism, inspect the destination list before confirming. A Beacon you physically activated should be available even when its surrounding map section remains fogged. If the name is absent, return to the location and interact with the Beacon rather than repeatedly reloading the launchpad.

The launch sequence is slower than Mether's Breath, but it proves the travel network is working before the later upgrade appears. Use it to revisit early areas, recover a missed route, or establish more Beacon destinations while progressing toward the Ova unlock.

Unlock Mether's Breath with Ova progression

Ova are connected to cleansing Beacons and campaign progression. Bring collected Ova back to Marrow Keep and use the siphon rather than leaving them only in your inventory. After the required progression is registered, Mether's Breath appears as a usable travel choice at Beacons.

Current sources disagree about the exact Ova threshold. Published launch guides variously describe totals or newly collected amounts, and some include the Ova already credited around the prologue. The reliable confirmation is not a memorized number: siphon what you have, then check whether Mether's Breath appears in the Beacon menu and inventory.

Do not continue farming a claimed threshold after the option is already visible. If it is still missing, cleanse another accessible Beacon, collect its Ova, return to the Keep, and siphon again. This progression-based check survives conflicting guide terminology better than treating one launch-week count as universal.

Tag a Beacon before expecting it in the list

A travel destination must be a tagged Beacon. Walk to it and complete the interaction that registers it as a checkpoint; a map icon, distant glow, or guide screenshot does not prove that registration occurred. When a new route passes a Beacon, tag it before exploring side paths so a later death does not force a long return.

Map discovery and Beacon activation are separate systems. Ruk's fragments reveal terrain, while Beacon interaction builds the travel network. This is why a destination can be usable before its region is fully revealed, or visible on the map without yet being usable for travel.

Corrupted routes can add another prerequisite. If the road beyond a Beacon remains blocked, complete the supported cleansing or dungeon objective instead of assuming fast travel will bypass the obstruction. Travel moves you to the checkpoint; it does not automatically finish the local progression state.

Use the current Beacon menu correctly

Approach an activated Beacon and look for Mether's Breath in its interaction menu. Choose the destination by name and confirm it against the region or nearby landmark. Similar location names are easier to distinguish after collecting the relevant map fragments and recording which Beacon supports each objective.

The September 5 official update changed the interface so smaller Beacons display their own icons in the Mether's Breath menu. It also fixed Ruk appearing at map stations when warping to an overlapping Beacon. If an older video shows a less specific list or different arrival behavior, prefer the current interface.

The Week 1 update added Beacons across Fainweald and Mammon that are active only during daytime. A destination that changes with world state is not necessarily a broken save. Confirm whether Night Mode is active before reporting that a newly added daytime Beacon has disappeared.

Plan efficient travel routes

Build each route around three anchors: the destination Beacon, the objective, and the return point. Tag the closest safe Beacon, identify the named landmark on the map, and decide whether the route ends at the same checkpoint or continues to another one. This prevents fast travel from becoming a substitute for basic route planning.

Group compatible objectives. A map fragment, nearby weapon, Shell route, and dungeon entrance can share one trip when their prerequisites are already met. Do not combine targets only because they appear close on a community map; elevation, corruption, a locked gate, or daytime state may separate them.

Before a risky detour, spend vulnerable resources and confirm the Beacon name you would use to return. Fast travel is most valuable when it shortens a known recovery loop. It cannot recover Gloom for you or protect an untagged checkpoint after a second death.

Troubleshoot a missing destination

First, verify the correct system. If you are at Marrow Keep, use the rooftop launchpad; if you are standing at a Beacon, look for Mether's Breath. A player who has only unlocked the first stage will not yet have the direct Beacon-to-Beacon menu.

Second, verify the destination. Travel to it on foot, interact with the Beacon, rest if the prompt requires it, and then recheck the list. If the local route is corrupted, complete the intended cleansing step and make sure its state saves before leaving.

Third, verify Ova progression at the siphon. Because published sources disagree about the threshold, do not diagnose the save from one number alone. If repeated cleansing, collection, and siphoning still produce no menu option, record the platform, current patch, Ova state, and the exact Beacon before comparing with current official notes.

Fast travel checklist

  1. Finish the prologue and reach Marrow Keep.
  2. Use the elevator beyond the Gloom Siphon to find the rooftop launchpad.
  3. Activate every Beacon you want to use as a destination.
  4. Cleanse Beacons, collect Ova, and siphon them at Marrow Keep.
  5. Confirm Mether's Breath appears in the Beacon menu instead of relying on one disputed threshold.
  6. Check daylight and Night Mode when a Week 1 Beacon is unavailable.
  7. Use current map names and Beacon icons when planning the final route.
